Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at the Critical Care Building Will Feature Care, Comfort and Convenience
When the new Critical Care Building at Cincinnati Children’s opens on November 6, the 48-bed Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) unit will enhance our patient care capabilities while offering amenities and conveniences to provide more comfort for families and help them take care of their daily needs.
Every inpatient BMT room will offer in-room telemedicine. Rooms will also be more spacious, have more storage and offer more privacy with features such as pass throughs – discreet doorways that allow staff to empty trash and refill supplies and medications without entering the room.
The BMT unit will also contain these enhancements that contribute to better care for patients and better experience for families:
• Embedded occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech therapy.
• Embedded Child Life.
• More family lounges than before.
• Quiet and consult rooms in each wing of the unit.
• A business center.
• Laundry facilities.
• An integrative care area with a massage room.
